The medical society kicked off the year with a networking activity. Practicing physicians and minority medical students met for a “Speed Networking” session where each student was able to meet privately with the physicians. Held at EVMS in Lester Hall, this is the 11th year that we have been able to have this very successful activity.

On January 11th, some of the doctors from the Greater Norfolk Medical Society met with first year minority medical students and pre-medical students from Hampton and Old Dominion Universities. The purpose was to meet and expose the students to various medical specialties through networking with the doctors in attendance.
Students individually met with the physicians and will be paired up for a year-long mentoring program.
This was held at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Lester Hall, and was developed by the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion and Dr. Angela Mercer, President of the medical society.
