Educational Activities

The medical society has partnered with the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at EVMS. Not only is there a mentoring program but there is access to the various CME lectures and non-CME events that the department sponsors.

Since this partnership, physicians within the medical society have had opportunities to view such lectures as “The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Documenting Human Rights Abuses and Advocating for Asylum Seekers“. Various other topics are also available through this EVMS DEI Series.

In conjunction with Practice Point Communications, through their Simply Speaking Program, there have been lectures on topics such as “HIV Therapy as HIV Prevention: Reducing the Risk of HIV Infection Among Uninfected Adults” and “Caring for Communities of Color with HIV Infection”.

As a component society of the Old Dominion Medical Society, which is the state society of the NMA, members of The Greater Norfolk Medical Society of South Hampton Roads are invited to participate in the ODMS Annual Meeting and Scientific Session and the NMA Annual Meeting and Scientific Session. Multiple CME credits are offered at both scientific sessions.
